I can do hardcore/metalcore vocals easily, normal deathmetal vocals are a bit harder, and for me gutterals are quite hard to get the hang of, today was the first time I actually did gutterals for longer than a halfhour...normally when I record gutterals for a a song of mine, the first minute and a half is great, but then suddenly the gurgling sound starts to disappear and it starts sounding like crap..I think I already know why that was all the times before (altough it could also be because I only practice gutterals/vocals once in a week or so) but anyway, I only drink room-temperature water when doing vocals, don't use my throat and definitely dont force it too much anymore (think forcing it might have caused the "soundinglikecrap when doing gutterals intensively after a minute and a half" before). When I did those gutterals today I was completely calm and relaxed.
Some time ago on Neurotic Deathfest I also asked AJ Magana (singer of Defeated Sanity, ex-disgorge) some questions on how he did the gutterals and he said he really pushes the air from his stumach very hard out. I do think I saw him cupping the mic on stage with Defeated Sanity (not sure anymore, its been a while) .
